Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will integrate Apple’s intelligent voice assistant Siri in its A-Class vehicles. Natural language voice commands will be in the very core of the German maker’s A series infotainment system.
Now, we don’t exactly know what is the level of Siri integration, but it seems certain that you’d be able to make calls, dictate text messages and schedule appointments without having to look off the road. The system will work together with Mercedes-Benz’ Digital DriveStyle App which will beam notifications and apps to the infotainment system screen. The German car maker is the first to bring the cloud-based voice assistant in its vehicles.
The new infotainment system will land in the Mercedes A-Class at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in a month. This Fall it will make its debut on Mercedes’ fancier B-, C- and E-Classes in Europe.
Another distraction for those in the driver’s seat or a helpful time-saver helping you concentrate on the road? Let us know what you think about having Siri integration in your car cabin.
