Do You Want To Survive Or Be Voted Out?

The popular CBS show, Survivor, makes its way to the Nintendo Wii, but is this a game you want to survive or be voted out of?
I have to admit, when I heard that a Survivor games had been released for the Wii, I thought it could be decent. I was wrong.
To begin, you don’t play as one survivor; you play as an entire tribe. So, for those of you who wanted to role play your own survivor, you are out of luck. The survivors in the game are from the show and they each are good at certain mini-games.
Oh yeah, this game is just a mini-game collection. There are no alliances, no camp life and no hidden immunity idols. They strip all those things away and keep only the challenges, which are mediocre at best.
The biggest problem I had with the challenges is how awful they are. Some of them are just hard to control and others seem to be broken. If I swing the Wii remote, I expect the game to do something right away, not 10 hours later (that was an exaggeration, it’s more like 20 hours).
After you do two challenges, you either go to another challenge if you win or tribal council if you loose. Yes, at least they have tribal council, too bad it sucks more than a leech (come on … you know you just laughed).
In this tribal council there is no voting, just when I thought they couldn’t get away from the show anymore, instead the computer picks a person and they’re gone. What the hell is that? That’s bulls***! If you win you get to pick someone off from the other tribe, which is kind of nice but still stupid.
Then after you vote enough people off you come to the merge, which is pointless. The merge is stupid and a waste of time, because you still compete against the other tribe. Nothing changes in the game. As far as I’m concerned the merge is just a poorly put together cut scene.
The other big problem I have with the game is the horrible lip syncing on Jeff Probst. Yes, Probst does do his own voice work, which is nice, but the people who made the game didn’t take the time to animate him properly. It’s just bad looking.
I can’t really say anything good about this game. It’s poorly made, the Wii controls barley work on some games and everything you would expect from a Survivor game is not here. They just slapped on the Survivor name to make a quick buck.
Hopefully in the future we can have a deep Survivor experience, until then, just stay away from this one.

Top 10 Zelda Games

Introduction

The Legend of Zelda turns 25 today. It’s been 25 years of green tunics, dark realms, time travel, magic fairies and magic swords. So, to celebrate in this monumental event I put together my top 10 Zelda games of all-time. Let’s get into to it.

10. Phantom Hourglass

The sequel to The Wind Waker starts off the list. It was a game that offered a new way to control the hero Link as he set out, once again, to rescue the Princess Zelda (or Tetra, which is her name in this game).
The story is simple. Link and his pirate friends find a ghost ship, which takes Tetra. It is then up to Link to collect sand, which he places into a phantom hourglass. This allows him more time to explore time-limited dungeons, in his effort to find his friend. It's not really a deep story, but it works.
This is a great Zelda handheld game but falls slightly short for me. The graphics are fantastic and the presentation is top notch. The only thing that goes against it is how simple it is. I wish it was more challenging for veterans of the franchise, but it's not.
This was a game marketed to a more casual crowd. Yet, it still has great moments, like all the Zelda games that came before it.

9. Four Swords Adventures

What's better than one Link? Well, four of course, and that is exactly what you get here.
This game put together gameplay from the Nintendo GameCube and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. This was to give gamers a more cooperative and competitive multiplayer. You would have to hook up your Game Boy Advance to your GameCube and during different events the screen would switch to one or the other. It sounds like a hassle but it worked, and it was fun.
After you had every thing hooked up, You would then try to get four friends together and journey through eight levels. The game was very linear but very clever.
People complained about the graphics and sound, but I liked it all. I won't say that these people are wrong to complain, because I understand where they're coming from, but it made me feel like I was playing a brand new Super Nintendo Game. Also, this is the closest thing to A Link to the Past sequel we ever had and that's why I love it.

8. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

The black sheep of the series and the only one not to use The Legend of Zelda title.
The story, again, is very simple. Link sets out on a quest to save Princess Zelda, who is under a sleeping spell.
The game was much different from the original 'The Legend of Zelda' and even Zelda games that came after it. It dropped it's overhead view and gave us a side-scrolling game, except when you're on the world map. Many people hated this game, because how different and ridiculously hard it was. Yet, it's not a bad game, at all.
When I played this game as a kid, it was frustrating, but as I got older I started to enjoy it more and more. It introduced certain things that would stick with the series, most notable, magic.
The other thing I really liked about it, is its combat system. It was very advanced for its time.
I don't think people should hate this game, yeah it's hard, but that challenge is what I missed so much in Phantom Hourglass.

7. Link's Awakening

The first game set out of the Kingdom of Hyrule, we come to one of the best Game Boy games of all-time.
The story begins when Link's ship is destroyed in a storm. He then washes up on Koholint Island, where he is found by a girl named Marin. Link soon sets out on a journey to return home. He gets his sword, and follows the guidance of an owl, who tells him that the only way home is to wake the Wind Fish. A fish who is in a giant egg on top of Mt. Tamaranch. This fish can only be woken up by the eight instruments of the Sirens. Yes, a lot more is happening in the story this time around.
This game really sticks out of the series, because it's one of the few titles you aren't rescuing Princess Zelda, which was a nice change. The other thing that made it stick out, was its sense of humor.
This is the perfect handheld Zelda game. The things Phantom Hourglass lacked, Link's Awakening had. The challenge remained there and being able to take the journey on the road was an amazing thing back then.

6. Twilight Princess

The first epic Zelda game on the Nintendo Wii. The story was darker and the adventure was huge.
A darkness starts to take over Hyrule, a darkness known as the Twilight. Link soon gets the ability to turn into a wolf and is helped by a twilight creature, known as Midna. They then both set off to save Hyrule and Princess Zelda.
The story does feel very familiar, but the way it's presented makes it engaging.
There is so much content in this game that it will make your head spin. You can easily spend over 30 hours playing through the main quest, but close to 70 if you try and collect everything. Nintendo packed so much into this world, showing us how much they actually care.
Twilight Princess also sports a very grown up look and feel. Like I said above, its dark. Yet, it's not so dark where you loose that Zelda charm, but this story is definitely targeted to a more adult crowd this time.

5. The Wind Waker

Hyrule is underwater and this time we get a boat.
This game takes place 100 years after The Ocarina of Time. Hyrule has suffered from a great flood, leaving most of the kingdom underwater. We don't really learn why it's underwater, it just is. Link originally sets out to rescue his sister, which he does, but is ultimately pulled into journey that has him saving Princess Zelda and stopping Ganondorf.
The Wind Waker got a lot of negative feedback about the way it looked. After the more realistic approach during Nintendo 64 days, fans wanted Nintendo to continue making real looking Zelda games. What we received was the total opposite, we got a cartoon looking world.
This didn't bother me, because once you started playing, this was the same old Zelda. Yes, the adventure was a lot less challenging but the world it was set in made up for that. The Wind Waker is huge and there is no loading times, it all goes together so smoothly.

4. A Link to the Past

We return to form in the third game of the series.
The story begins when a magician named Agahnim kidnaps young maidens in Hyrule in the effort to open a seal that imprisons Ganon. Link is pulled into the adventure by Princess Zelda. He then has to save her, the maidens and Hyrule.
This is the true sequel to the original 'The Legend of Zelda'. The overhead view is back and side-scrolling is kicked to the curb. This game was the real evolution of the series and one that I play over and over again.
There is so much to love here, the gameplay is fantastic, the quest is long and challenging and the story is actually told during the game. That's right this was something different, because stories were usually told in the manuals.
I could gush over this game for hours. I loved the music, I loved how felt connected to the characters, it was just a special journey.

3. The Legend of Zelda

The timeless classic that started it all lands in the number 3 spot.
The story was explained in the games manual. The evil Ganon has brought chaos to the land of Hyrule and is after the Triforce. He kidnaps Princess Zelda and it's up to Link to stop find the triforce pieces, stop Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda. All these story elements would come back again and again in the Zelda series.
The overhead view, dungeons, magic swords and puzzles were all here. The game also offered a save function, because the adventure was too big to complete in a few hours (This was something new for consoles).
After you completed the first quest you unlocked the 'Second Quest', this one was more difficult. You could also access this quest by entering your name as ZELDA, when creating a new save file.

2. Ocarina of Time

Yes, the Zelda masterpiece does not make it to my number 1 spot.
I can already feel the angry emails being sent to me right now. Yet, the truth is, even though this is considered the best game of all-time, it's not my favorite Zelda game.
The story centers around Link. He is a Kokiri that lacks a fairy. Don't worry he soon gets the awesome Navi, who guides him through this adventure. Link sets out with his new fairy friend to rescue Princess Zelda and stop Ganondorf, again. Yet, this time we travel through time.
After we saw Mario step into the world of 3D, we all anticipated what Link could do in 3D. What we received was nothing short of amazing.
Considered to be one of the best games of all-time and for good reason. Everything in this game is tuned. The gameplay is smooth and the world is large.
The only reason I didn't pick it for my number 1 spot is because I connected more with the next game.

1. Majora's Mask

You have only three days to save the world.
The story takes place in Termina, where masks are scattered and you relive the same three days over and over. You get to live them over and over because you have the Ocarina, which controls time. In these three days you must help people, track down masks and stop the moon from crashing into the world.
I like this game the best because I felt connected to the world. The town of Termina is filled with people with their own stories and you get to participate in them. I also loved how the game was darker than Ocarina of Time, and the underlying theme was about healing the world.
I know people felt limited and that the game felt repetitive to them, but not for me. I thought the three day time limit made you feel the pressure.
Majora's Mask is a great game and deserves the same amount of attention that Ocarina of Time gets.

New Zealand city in ruins after quake kills at least 75

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/02/22/new.zealand.earthquake/c1main.dome.gi.jpgRescue teams in New Zealand continued to search for survivors Wednesday after a powerful earthquake rocked downtown Christchurch, killing scores of people, toppling buildings and leaving others trapped beneath piles of concrete.
At least 75 people have died, 55 of whom have been identified, according to Prime Minister John Key. Hundreds are still missing, Key told reporters at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
Among the missing are 10 Japanese students believed to be trapped under the rubble at King's Education College.

The 6.3-magnitude quake struck Christchurch during the lunchtime rush Tuesday. Frantic rescuers scrambled to reach those trapped beneath the rubble hours. Dazed, bleeding residents wandered through streets strewn with debris and piles of concrete.
The quake toppled buildings onto buses, buckled streets, forced the collapse of a cathedral spire and cut power for most of the city.
Quake hits fragile economy

Rescuers worked overnight under floodlights pulling "a large number of people" from collapsed buildings, according to a police department statement posted online Wednesday.
"Significant numbers of people" were trapped inside two downtown buildings that "suffered major collapse," the statement read. "Police are also aware of there being a number of deceased people in both buildings."
Twenty-two people, two of them seriously hurt, were pulled from the PPG building on Cambridge Terrace. Another 22 are still believed to be trapped in the rubble there. Meanwhile, eight people have been rescued from the CTV building, at Madras and Cashel streets, but "a large number are still unaccounted for," police said.
"This is just heartbreaking," Key said during a trip to survey the damage. "This may be New Zealand's darkest day."
U.S. President Barack Obama released a statement expressing his condolences for the victims of the New Zealand earthquake and offering to help.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those whose lives have been touched by this tragedy. The United States is a close friend and partner of New Zealand," the president stated. "To assist in the rescue and recovery efforts, we have agreed to deploy a U.S. Agency for International Development Disaster Assistance Response Team, including an Urban Search and Rescue Team, and we stand ready to provide more assistance as needed."
A U.S. congressional delegation was in the city for a joint U.S.-New Zealand conference hours before the quake struck.

"Having experienced the warm reception of the people of Christchurch at the Partnership Forum only hours before the earthquake struck makes this disaster all the more personal and poignant," said Rep. Donald Manzullo, R-Illinois, chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific.
The U.S. delegation left Christchurch on Tuesday morning, less than three hours before the quake struck.
The initial quake, which struck Christchurch shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, was followed by a series of 33 aftershocks with magnitudes of 4 to 6, according to the New Zealand Ministry of Defense.
A Japanese school said its students and teachers visiting the city were trapped under the rubble. Eleven students have been rescued so far, eight of whom remained hospitalized Wednesday and were receiving treatment, the school said. The trapped are communicating by mobile phone.
The 21 students and two teachers were eating lunch when the earthquake struck, said Sayaka Kawai, an employee at the Toyama Foreign Language School.
The school said it learned of the earthquake after one of the teachers sent a text message to her parents in Japan.
The teacher, who was trapped, said she could see seven students around her but she could not account for the rest.
A Japanese travel agency said it has been unable to contact some of its tourists who were in the city. Japan plans to send a rescue team to help with the efforts, according to authorities.
Police, military and rescue crews have been dispatched from all over the country to help with rescue efforts, Key said.
The quake ripped the facade of the iconic Christchurch Cathedral. At the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, piles of stone sat atop crushed chairs on the floor as a light shone through a collapsed tower above the sanctuary.
Southern New Zealand has been hit by a series of quakes since September 4, when a 7.1-magnitude temblor struck the area. The earthquake hit in the predawn hours, with the deserted streets helping keep injuries to a minimum. There were no deaths from that quake.
The September quake struck deeper below ground and further away from Christchurch than Tuesday's temblor, and thus caused less damage despite the higher magnitude, officials said. Key said Wednesday that the September quake caused between $5 and $6 billion in damage in New Zealand dollars ($3.75 billion to $4.5 billion U.S.).
According to an estimate released by J.P. Morgan Chase and Co., the Tuesday earthquake could cost insurers more than twice that amount. That would make the latest New Zealand temblor the world's most expensive natural disaster since Hurricane Ike struck the United States in 2008, causing nearly $20 billion (U.S.) in damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey said Tuesday's earthquake was part of the "aftershock sequence" of the September earthquake.
"It's a nightmare. A lot of people were just getting back on their feet after the original quake," said Kevin Fenaughty, data center manager for GNS Science, an earth-science research institute.
Queen Elizabeth II said she was "utterly shocked" by news of another earthquake.
"Please convey my deep sympathy to the families and friends of those who have been killed; my thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this dreadful event," she said in a message to Key.
Key vowed that Christchurch will be rebuilt.
"Christchurch, today is the day your comeback begins," Key said. "While nature has taken much from you, it cannot take your survivor spirit."

After his former girlfriend taunted him, Phillip Alpert remembered the nude photos she e-mailed to him while they were dating. He took revenge with an electronic blast — e-mailing the photos of the 16-year-old girl to more than 70 people, including her parents, grandparents and teachers. Three days later, Alpert, then 18, was charged with transmitting child pornography. Today Alpert is serving five years of probation for the crime, and he is registered as a sex offender — a label he must carry at least until he is 43. "I didn't know how bad of a decision it was," Alpert, now 19, said recently at his MetroWest apartment. "I don't think it's fair." Alpert is one of many people across the country who are being charged with felonies and getting sentenced as sex offenders for doing something their friends do all the time, unaware of potential criminal charges. One national study found that as many as 20percent of teens have sent or posted nude or seminude photos of themselves in what has become known as "sexting." Young teens are using high-tech phones to text, post or e-mail racy photos — technically child porn. Most do it for fun. But getting caught means being kicked off sports teams and facing expulsion from school. Others are going to jail.

13WHAM-TV reports on research conducted by RIT Professor Sam McQuade related to children and text messaging of sexually explicit material. The days of passing notes in class are gone and students are turning to their cell phones and the Internet to communicate. The texting and camera features available on most phones have lead to sexting" that is, exchanging sexual images on cell phones. Its a dangerous trend thats leading to some teens being prosecuted for serious crimes. News Source 13 reporter Sean Carroll takes an investigative look at sexting, a trend that teens and their parents ought to know about. Last week in the Scranton, Pa.-suburb of Tunkhannock, police confiscated the cell phones of five students between the ages of 11 and 17. On at least one of those phones, police found more than 100 images, any number of which could result in criminal charges. In the Rochester area, John Sciabica, 16, of Webster faces two felony charges in similar circumstances. Wayne County Sheriff's investigators claim that Sciabica enticed a 15-year-old girl from Wayne County into texting him sexually explicit photos, and a movie of herself. Investigators further allege that Sciabica then forwarded those images to his friends. As a result, Sciabica has been charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance of a child less than 16 years of age. Each carries a maximum penalty of four and seven years in prison, respectively. Tom Splain, Sciabicas ...

A mother who lost her 17-year-old son in a car accident said the teens accused of stealing his ashes from a cemetery are getting off too easy. "I followed my son's wishes, had him cremated, gave him a proper burial and two weeks after we buried him, he was stolen from the grave," Angela Bickham told KMBC's Chris Nagus. Justin Manning's urn was placed at the Bonner Springs Cemetery. But his ashes ended up in Tupperware containers all over town, Nagus reported. "There's approximately nine people involved, including parents of the teenagers -- parents who have their own container of my son's ashes," Bickham said. Those who are charged with stealing the ashes are facing a misdemeanor. Bickham said the punishment won't fit the crime. "My family and I are trying to have it pushed to a felony charge," Bickham said. Bickham said she is working with Kansas lawmakers to increase the penalty for grave desecration. "There's no way I can make these people understand the pain they have caused. But if I can get this bill passed and make it a felony charge, they will at least have to think about it for a longer period of time," Bickham said. Bickham said she has recovered most of her son's ashes. But she said she is concerned that it will happen to another family at another cemetery unless the law changes. "If it happens once, it can happen again and it will happen again," Bickham said. Bickham said some of the culprits attended her son's funeral. She said she plans to rebury him, but at ...

Sexting: Scary Trend with Lasting Consequences
The connection is instant and might feel private, but racy photos can have lasting consequences. "I feel for both parties. Not only do girls do it, but boys do it too, and later in life it can come back to haunt them." Detective Sheldon Johnson tells NewsWest 9, he investigated three so-called sexting cases last year. While that number is relatively low, before 2008 the phenomenon wasn't even on the department's radar. "That picture they're taking for somebody else is permanent, it's never going away." Det. Johnson said. Across the United States some teens are facing criminal charges for manufacturing or distributing child pornography. The Boston Herald reports an 18-year-old in Florida was forced to register as a sex offender after he forwarded a photo of his ex-girlfriend. "However private you think some communication is, there is no way you can prevent that person from sending it on." Assistant US Attorney John Klassen said the photos often circulate until they end up on the web. In Midland last year, a teen sent her boyfriend a nude photo, the boy forwarded it when they broke up. "She was extremely embarrassed and regretted taking this picture for her boyfriend. Her thoughts were nobody is else is going to see it, but him." Det. Johnson said, "They don't think it's going to go anywhere and when they break up whether it be for revenge or a practical joke, it goes to hundreds of kids." The Midland boy didn't face any charges. The law is clear cut but for the federal agents who investigate cases of children manufacturing and disseminating nude photos of themselves, it's complex. "Technically the law is if you posses it, than it's a violation of federal law." Special Agent Matt Espendshade, says the technology is outpacing the law books,"I think it is a scary situation for parents, technology has advanced so far so fast." Possession or Distribution of child pornography can carry a hefty sentence but nowhere in federal law does it list an exemption for teens who make or send naked photographs. "We try to use these laws responsibly." Espenshade said they aren't targeting teens with federal child pornography law, but that's not to say it can't happen. The Midland branch of the FBI covers 14 counties in West Texas. Espenshade says at least once a month a "Sexting" case comes across an agent's desk. Another concern for parents is the photos can end up in the hands of sex offenders. "If the get that picture than they will share that with others which have the same proclivity and in essence the victim is victimized over and over again," Espenshade said. Once on the Internet, the titillating images may end up costing a teen a future career or personal embarrassment. "The now is not the forever and they're going to have to live with those things for the rest of their lives." Espenshade says parents need to talk to their kids.

PLEASE READ: I got this message from a subscriber 'GMPNY' from here on YouTube regarding this subject and well we talked and she said I could share it because I think its something that needs to be said. "I drove school bus for 27 years. Sexting is HUGE and I have to tell you, young teens for some reason think sending a picture of their penis to girls on their contact list is the most hilarious thing they can do to shock the girls and when convicted you ARE a sex offender and it doesnt go away, you have to register for the rest of your life and college dont matter, you try to get a job after they check you out, the SEE "Sex Offender" NOT that a 14 or 16 year old sends penis pic to girls as prank cause he was stupid! Parents arent remembering to tell and warn them that its a sexual offense punishable by law with a prison sentence or juvinile sentence and you still have to register as a sex offender cause even if its your penis YOU have sent child porn over the internet, see their point? I THINK all charges should have extenuating circumstances but there are NONE you are a sex offender...PERIOD, end of story and end of your life as you knew it. Please tell people how very serious the ramifications are if their kids, male or female get caught cause THEY are charged with Child Porn even if its of their own body!" GMPNY Thanks for watching! Teenagers who exchange nude photos of themselves on their cell phones are being charged with "child pornography" and forced to register as "sex offenders" for decades or for life! Current sex offender laws make little or no distinction between violent and non-violent offenders. Some listed on registries are young children - www.cfcamerica.org Even CNN's Mike Galanos admits - "Child pornography charges are too harsh for teens caught "sexting." These broad-reaching laws need reform so they differentiate between violent and non-violent individuals. Fewer than 10% re-offend according to the Department Of Justice and major university studies, so it is definitely time for a change!

What does Google need with (part of) your child’s security number?
That’s what privacy advocates were asking, prompting Google to withdraw a requirement that parents entering their children in its popular “Doodle-4-Google” provide the last four digits of a child’s social security number.
The art contest, which drew more than 33,000 entries last year, was created by Google to highlight “the creativity of young people” by having them send in a drawing under the theme “What I’d like to do someday …”
It is open to children from kindergarten through the last year of high school and requires that a contestant provide a Parent Consent Form along with their submission.
The original form asked for the child’s city of birth, date of birth, the last four digits of the child’s social security number, and complete contact info for the parents.
But with all of that info, watchdogs worried about online sites having too much information pointed out it would be relatively easy to steal someone’s identity — or sell the data to marketers who could do just about anything with it.
Bob Bowdon, who directed “The Cartel,” a documentary about corruption in the public-school system explained the significance to New York Magazine:

You see what Google knows and many parents don’t know is that a person’s city of birth and year of birth can be used to make a statistical guess about the first five digits of his/her social security number. Then, if you can somehow obtain those last four SSN digits explicitly — voila, you’ve unlocked countless troves of personal information from someone who didn’t even understand that such a disclosure was happening.
Bowdon admits he has “no evidence that Google will use or sell this information for marketing purposes.”
But regardless of its motivations, 26 hours after the FTC was alerted about the requiqrement, Google had reconfigured its consent form and deleted the request for the last four digits of a child’s Social Security number.
To date, it is still requiring parents to list a child’s birth, not current, city.
Here’s the explanation that Google sent to New York Magazine:

This year we started accepting doodles from kids even if their school hadn’t registered for the contest. To help us keep entries distinct and remove duplicate entries from any particular student, we asked parents for limited information, including the last 4 digits of a student’s social security number. We later updated our forms when we recognized that we could sufficiently separate legitimate contest entries while requesting less information. To be clear, these last 4 digits were not entered into our records and will be safely discarded.
The city of birth helps us identify whether contestants are eligible for the contest, as winners must be either U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the U.S. The information isn’t used for any other purpose.
