Director Ram Gopal Varma has filed a defamation case against a local Telugu news channel TV9 on Thursday. The channel had aired a programme called 'Ram Dhamaal Varma' in which critics had passed some serious remarks about his work in his latest movie Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalaraju. He called it a personal attack on him.
Irked by the the programme, Ram Gopal Varma met AK Khan, the City Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, on Thursday and registered a complaint against TV9. He alleged that the Telugu news channel had defamed him by passing some serious comments on his direction of films.
However, RGV attended an interview on the same channel in the evening. He claimed that it was a personal attack, when the host tried to defend by calling it as critics' views. He said, "It had nothing to do with the critics' views, but it was a personal attack on me."
