Swiss police say they are refocusing on the French island of Corsica in their search for 6-year-old Swiss twins missing since Jan. 30.
The police also said Friday the girls were last seen with their father at a beach near Morges, Switzerland.
They said there is no link between the girls' disappearance and a Swiss woman named Katia Iritano who disappeared on Jan. 25. Some had speculated she might have known the girls' father.
The Swiss police said they have no formal proof the father, Matthias Kaspar Schepp, took his daughters Alessia and Livia on a ferry to Corsica before throwing himself under a train in Italy on Feb. 3.
They said nonetheless that investigators "are giving the most weight to the Corsica trail, but without rejecting other hypotheses."
