Verizon shared data plans to launch by mid-2012

Verizon shared data plans to launch by mid-2012

That Verizon is planning on offering shared data plans in the future is something that we have known for quite a while. We also know that the carrier is tweaking its internal system and is adding support for them. However, those who are planning on taking advantage of the said data plans might have to wait for up to three more months.
According to Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo, Verizon will start offering shared data plans by the middle of 2012. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that the carrier will wait until the very end of that deadline to make these plans official. However, Verizon will take its time in ensuring that the new offerings are beneficial in financial terms for both carriers and subscribers. And that might take a while as Fran Shammo said that finding the right price requires a "complex equation"

And even once the Verizon shared data plans are official, opting in right away might not be an option. Or as Fran Shammo explained it:

''Now it's also important to realize that the day we launch this account billing, everybody won't be migrating to the account billing day one,... This is going to be a long-term migration into where we want to get data plan sharing, but this will be more of a 4G play for us and I think it will be critical for us.

Is anyone excited about the upcoming shared data plans by Verizon? Or are you hoping for AT&T to launch such offerings first? Do not hesitate to drop a comment for us below.
