Asus had one of the most successful Android tablets in 2011 - the Eee Pad Transformer, and after it launched its successor in late 2011, it brought two powerful new members to the Asus Eee Pad family at MWC 2012: the high-end Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and the affordable yet still capable Transformer Pad 300 Series.
The Pad 300 Series is the first slate combining a quad-core processor and LTE connectivity, while the Infinity comes with a mind-boggling super high-res display with 1920x1200 pixels resolution.
There is a difference between the two even though they look pretty similar design-wise - the Infinity shines with its thin aluminum body and lightweight construction, while the 300 Series is a bit bulkier and made out of plastic.
On the inside the 300 Series is still pretty darn powerful for a $399 device - it packs a quad-core Tegra 3 chip.
The Infinity actually comes in two versions which differ in the inside stuffing. The Wi-Fi-only version sports a 1.6GHz Tegra 3 quad-core chip, while there’s another one with 3G/4G LTE support and that’s powered by a Snapdragon S4 with dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The price for the Infinity ranges from $599 to the sky-high $799.
