ZTE brings four tablets to MWC: quad-core PF 100 and T98, high-end V96 and affordable V9S

ZTE is not just announcing new products - the company has exploded with 8 new handsets and 4 new Android tablets, releasing devices as if they were chewing gum. Not that we mind - there are two quad-core tablets for starters, a dual-core Qualcomm powered and a low-end dual-core tablet. Yes, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm chip now goes for low-end.

Starting from the beginning, there are the ZTE PF 100 and T98, both powerd by quad-core Tegra 3 chips and both running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The ZTE PF 100  comes with a dedicated Icera 450 HSPA modem for better power efficiency and network performance. It has a 10.1-inch display with WXGA resolution, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

The ZTE T98 is smaller - it has a 7-inch display and it’s the first seven inch tablet running on a quad-core chip that we’ve seen so far. Except for that it’s identical to the PF 100, down to the WXFGA resolution which will bring better pixel density on the tinier screen. The ZTE T98 looks bound for China as it supports the country’s TD-SCDMA 3G bands.

The ZTE V96 is a 10.1-inch tablet and it’s also in the high-end, but it runs on Qualcomm silicon rather than Tegra 3. The processor is clocked at the impressive 1.7GHz.

It also runs on Android 4.0 ICS, but comes with both LTE and ICS. The rest is the same like on the former two - 5-megapixel rear camera, 16GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM.

Last and most affordable is the ZTE V9S - a 10.1-inch tablet with a 1.2GHz dual-core core chip, 1 gig of RAM and 16 gigs of internal storage. Sadly, you’d have to settle for Android 3.2 Honeycomb instead of ICS if you want to cut some corners with this tablet.

Except for the terrible naming scheme, ZTE looks pretty solid with these tablets, especially if it brings them to market on time. Expectations are for a release date in Q2 2012, and some of them should come stateside.
