Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 takes on the MacBook Air

Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad X1 which they claim is their thinnest ever production model.

Weighing 3.7 pounds, the X1 will be powered by Intel's second-generation core processors.  The laptop will boast of a 13.3-inch display protected by Gorilla glass, making it scratch resistant. It will also come loaded with Lenovo's RapidCharge technology, which enables it to achieve an 80% charge in only 30 minutes.

Other notable features include Dolby home theatre technology V4 for an immersive audio experience, and Instant Resume which helps users keep their wireless connection whether its Wi-Fi or mobile.

An option for Intel's vPro technology will be available to users who need hard drive encryption, fingerprint scanning and remote management.

The X1 will run Windows 7 with Lenovo's enhanced experience 2.0 which will increase start up times of the laptop.

Previously, the ultra-portable market has seen the likes of the Samsung Series 9 and the MacBook Air. Both these laptops feature super slim designs similar to the Lenovo X1.
