As if to prove that true innovation pays off, Asus said it will ramp up production of its Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet, citing strong demand in the US, UK, Taiwan and mainland China. The company has obviously remedied the part supply shortages it had until recently
Production rates are said to go up from the current 7-8000 per day to the maximum of 10 000 units Asus is capable of. The company aims to produce 300 000 tablets in the April-June quarter alone, and 2 million total for the whole of 2011.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is one of the most affordable brand-name Android tablets out there, retailing for $399 in the US, in its 16GB version. It doesn't skim on features, though, with brushed aluminum looks, 5MP rear camera and HDMI-out port. In addition, it sports a detachable keyboard dock accessory that gives it 8 more hours of battery life, for a total of 16 hours.
