Imran Khan protests US drone attacks in Pakistan

Islamabad:  Protesters in Peshawar, in northwestern Pakistan, demonstrated on Saturday against US drone attacks on their country.

Former cricketer Imran Khan, head of the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Movement for Justice), led the protest, the latest in a series of protests over the last six weeks.

The CIA is running a series of covert drone attacks against Taliban and Al-Qaida militants hiding in the tribal areas along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.

Politicians have added their voice in recent weeks in asking the drone attacks to stop, including Prime Minister Yousuf Gilani, as well as army chief General Ashfaq Parvez

Kayani.

The latest drone attack, on Friday, killed 25 people, including women and children, according to Pakistani officials.
