U.S. Cellular's Samsung Mesmerize gets upgraded to Android 2.2

The Samsung Mesmerize, U.S. Cellular's version of the Samsung Galaxy S, can now be upgraded to Android 2.2. The Korean based manufacturer sent out a tweet that confirmed the availability of the upgrade, which must be done manually for the time being, through Samsung's Kies mini desktop software.

Android 2.2 brings a multitude of improvements to the handset such as Adobe Flash, the ability to store some apps on a microSD card, automatic upgrades of certain apps, sharing a connection to U.S. Cellular's network using a Mobile Hotspot with 5-8 other users (this requires signing up for a tethering plan), the addition of Google's News and Weather application and being able to enjoy faster download speeds on the Android Browser.

The Samsung Mesmerize joins the HTC Desire and the Samsung Acclaim as the three devices offered by the carrier to be powered by Android 2.2.
