Now that we’re seeing some sub $500 Android tablets out there, we still need to be reminded about how the NOOK Color ended up being a sleeper hit amongst consumers – especially when it’s more of an eReader device as opposed to a full-fledged tablet.
Well, it seems that we might witness a slightly new version of the popular Android powered device since there is going to be a Barnes & Noble event held on May 24th in New York City. Naturally, one can only assume that a 3G version of the NOOK Color will be unveiled at the event, which is only substantiated thanks to a recent SEC filing that indicates new hardware.
Either way, we’ll know for sure soon enough since the event is taking place only a week from today. Regardless, it’s still very hard to not consider the NOOK Color when a recent firmware update brought Android 2.2 Froyo to the device – even more when it’s priced super competitively at $250.
