Analyst: Next iPhone to be known as iPhone 4S, available on T-Mobile and Sprint

An analyst claims that the next iPhone is to offer only "minor cosmetic changes" when compared to the iPhone 4 and will be called Apple iPhone 4S.

Moreover, he says that industry checks show that the so-called iPhone 4S will be released on Sprint and T-Mobile - in addition (presumably) to AT&T and Verizon. The last big revelation is that, contrary to some rumors, it won't come with LTE support.

According to Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek, who wrote a research note on May 13:

"We believe the likelihood of the iPhone 5 launch in September including LTE [Long-Term Evolution] is now remote."

He goes on by saying that the new features on the next iPhone will be more or less limited to better cameras, A5 dual-core processor and HSPA+.

What's interesting is that this info almost reiterates what we have heard before - another analyst (Concord Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo) provided pretty much the same information.

What's a completely new claim, though, is that Apple is not to offer LTE support on its new iPhone because Qualcomm didn't manage to deliver a chipset powerful enough to support LTE on the next-gen iPhone.

Rumors claim that the next iPhone - whether it's to be called the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5 will be launched in either September 2011 or in time for the holiday period.
