Motorola contacting Verizon-branded XOOM owners about imminent LTE upgrade

Motorola contacting Verizon-branded XOOM owners about imminent LTE upgrade

According to tip received by Phandroid, Motorola has started contacting owners of the Verizon branded tablet about sending the unit back to Motorola for an upgrade to 4G LTE. You might recall that back in February, we reported that those with the Verizon 3G version of the Motorola XOOM would have to send the device back to the manufacturer to receive the upgrade. Originally, the upgrade was supposed to take place 90 days after the February 24th launch of the product, which means that the Schaumburg, Illinois based firm is a little late in getting this done.

Motorola has been sending email to owners of the Verizon branded tablet and once the company is contacted by the owner of the XOOM, a package is sent out with instructions on how to safely send your unit back to Motorola along with shipping material. The email doesn't mention how long you will be going without your trusty Motorola XOOM and we would imagine that some hard core users will be jonesing for their tablet after just a few days.
