AT&T will be offering an enterprise-friendly Android tablet from Cisco this year, called Cius. The 7" slate runs Android, and sports HSPA+ connectivity, as well as 32GB of storage, plus the usual goodies like front and rear cameras, GPS and so on.
Cius weighs 1.15 pounds and measures 8.85x5.5x0.59", and is loaded with features that make the lives of your corporate IT department easier. The tablet will run both Android apps, and tailored AT&T and Cisco applications, which will bring cloud services, managed workspace, desktop virtualization, HD videoconferencing and other services Cisco is traditionally strong in.
There is a load of marketing cash behind the slate, too, it just recently got prominently placed in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, and you can watch all of the tablet's appearances there by clicking on the Cisco link in the source.
AT&T plans a big push into the enterprise market, with this year's spending targeted at about $1 billion on mobile and global networking solutions, emphasizing the healthcare market, as well as services for small businesses. The Cisco Cius tablet is just a step in that direction, and might put it in direct competition with the BlackBerry PlayBook slate that RIM hopes will be as popular with the suits as its BlackBerry line of phones. Cisco has been talking about this thing for almost a year now, have a look at one of the old promo videos below, finally it is about to see the light of day in collaboration with AT&T. They better roll it out before tablets with Windows 8 start appearing on the shelves.
