The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is already in short supply

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is already in short supply
Asus doesn't often get the spotlight. But their innovative Eee Pad Transformer has captured the attention of tablet and notebook customers alike. It mates a Tegra 2-powered, Android Honeycomb tablet with a full-size keyboard dock and auxiliary battery. And it stands to replace many users' dedicated netbooks and notebooks.

The Eee Pad Transformer launched today, with a prestigious lineup of retailers, and some smaller ones. And they're already in short supply. But that doesn't mean that Asus has reached Apple-esque sales figures. Asus had previously warned consumers that the Eee Pad Transformer would launch in low quantities.

Asus' tablet carries a pretty reasonable pricetag of only US$399, but that doesn't include the dock, which will be available in May. Its retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Fry's, J&R, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, TigerDirect, and more. As of this writing, they all seem to be out of stock. But there are some marked-up units available from resellers on Amazon if you're willing to pay.
