Bangalore, Feb 27: In the 11th match of the World Cup 2011, India stumbled to 338 all out against England in their 50 overs, losing a flurry of wickets at the end. After Sachin Tendulkar did the ground work by scoring a scintillating 120 off 114 and Gautam Gambhir (51) and Yuvraj Singh (58) played a good hand, India's latter order collapsed to some tight stump-to-stump bowling from pacer Tim Bresnan, who picked up 5/48.
After crossing the half-way mark at 140/1, India upped the ante with Tendulkar carting a hapless off-break Graeme Swann for two consecutive sixes to bring up India's 150. In the next over, he smacked Ahmed Shahzad for a four to move onto 76 off 82 balls. Then Tendulkar attacked James Anderson, getting him away for two consecutive boundaries for the second time in the match before Gautam Gambhir helped himself to another four off the fast bowler.
But there was some respite for the English when Swann bowled Gambhir in the next over. The batsman was on his way for 51 off 61 balls, but India were still in a mighty strong position at 180/2 in 29.4 overs.
In the 33rd over, Tendulkar touched Michael Yardy fine for a four to move onto 94. At the end of 34 overs, India had moved to 200. In the very next over, Tendulkar tickled Bresnan for a four fine to bring up his 47th ODI century. He had made 102 off 103 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours.
