Folks, we've witnessed a lot of rumors regarding the eventual release date for the next iPhone, many of which being somewhat groundless... and here's another one! According to an anonymous 9to5Mac source, who is said to have been “previously accurate” when it comes to Apple rumors, the iPhone 5 (or 4S, or whatever Apple decides to call it) has entered its final testing stage, and is to be launched in September (along with the new BMW 1-series, but that probably doesn't bother you much).
Additionally, it is reported that Apple and Verizon are yet to sign the deal that will allow FaceTime to work over the carrier's 3G network. We are unsure if this means that the deal with AT&T has been signed; the source doesn't specify. Finally, it seems some problems with iOS 5's OTA update capabilities through Verizon haven't been sorted out yet, so the presence of that feature on Big Red's next iPhone model is still under question.
Now is probably a good time to remember that famous quote: “Don't shoot the messenger!”
